Issues
Education
Our secondary education system needs to focus on making students work ready by the time they receive their high school diploma. Many of the needs in the region’s employment marketplace are in trades, healthcare and transportation, entry level careers that provide very competitive entry level wages and very little, if any, expensive post-secondary education. With their parents at their child’s side, Mike believes that every student deserves the best education so they can hit the ground running and be “job ready” by the time they graduate from high school. Mike has worked with local high schools not only as an employer but also sitting on school committees to guide them on what students need in order to be “job ready” coming out of high school.
Economy
The headwinds have been against individuals and businesses far too long. Abrupt COVID shutdowns saw shortages and closed businesses, many businesses never reopened. Coming out of the shutdowns there were employment shortages and rapidly escalating prices. Today we see inflation hitting Wisconsinites in the pocketbook from grocery costs to housing costs to increases in taxes. Mike has the knowledge, experience and financial common sense to navigate Wisconsin to better economic times and promote local businesses and local business growth.
Keeping Communities Safe
When a neighborhood girl, and close friend of his children, was brutally attacked in broad daylight when walking home from Grant Park Beach, Mike took it upon himself and organized the neighborhood, Local, County and State Officials to help address safety in the community. With aggravated and simple assaults, and car theft on the rise in the 20th District (2021-2022 WDOJ UCR Offense and Arrest Data by Agency) the District needs someone like Mike who is willing to roll up his sleeves and work hard to see that the community comes first and has the resources it needs to make the District safe for all.
